Upscale an image for print
Make a small photo larger for print or zoom, without pretending the new pixels are recovered fact.
Print shops usually want about 300 pixels per inch on the finished size. A 4×6 inch print is roughly 1200×1800 pixels. Measure your file with the print-size calculator before you upscale.
Upscaling can make a small file acceptable for a small print. It cannot add the detail a larger negative would have had.

How to upscale an image
- Upload your photo. Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MB into the box above, or pick a sample. On this device, nothing is uploaded.
- Choose Upscale. Choose 2× or 4×. The screen shows the final pixel size before you download.
- Compare and download. Drag the before/after slider, check the result at 100%, then download it free with no watermark.
What it helps
- Product photos that are a bit small for a marketplace zoom
- A crop that needs to print closer to 8×10 or A4
- Soft edges after an older export was saved too small
What it will not do
- 4× larger is not 4× more true detail. Fine texture can look smoother than the scene was
- Illegible text, licence plates, and evidence do not become reliable
- Very large originals should use 2× on a phone, or Cloud on a desktop
Settings
Start at 2×. Use 4× when you need the print size and have checked the result at 100%.
Fidelity controls how hard the follow-up sharpen is. Leave it modest for product photos.
On this device and in the cloud
On-device upscale draws the photo larger with high-quality smoothing, then applies a classical sharpen. It is free and does not upload the file. Inputs are kept near 4 megapixels so the tab stays responsive.
Cloud upscale costs 1 credit. The model is nightmareai/real-esrgan (BSD-3-Clause) with face enhancement forced off.
2× and 4× cost the same: free on-device, or 1 cloud credit. See pricing for packs and Plus.
