How do I increase image resolution without losing quality?

Pick 2× or 4× and compare at 100%. On this device the enlargement is classical and free. A cloud run uses an AI upscaler that can infer fine texture, and the result says so.

What is the largest image I can upscale?

Uploads can be up to 20 MB. Very large results may need the cloud option because a browser has memory limits.

Is 4× better than 2×?

Only when you need the extra pixels for print or zoom. Inspect both at 100%. If 4× looks plasticky, keep 2×.

Can I upscale a logo with transparency?

PNG and WebP with transparency stay transparent. The result is PNG when the file has transparent pixels.

What print size is realistic?

A 2000-pixel-long photo at 2× is about 13 inches at 300 DPI on the long edge. Measure the result rather than trusting the scale factor alone.

Will upscaling invent fabric texture or hair?

The on-device engine does not. The cloud Real-ESRGAN path can infer plausible texture. It is not a record of detail the camera missed, and this version does not use a diffusion model.
